What is the fete?

Our Around the World School Fete is an exciting event for the whole family.  The fete, which is like a fair or festival, will be held on Friday 4 November, 4-8 pm on the grasketball court and oval at school.  There will be a fun atmosphere where we can come together to play, eat, dance, and celebrate our wonderfully diverse community.

What can I expect on the day?

  • Rides and activities: wipe out, eliminator, atomic drop giant slide, chair-o-plane, mini golf and jumping castle, animal farm, and mini golf (check out our Facebook page to see what these look like)
  • Community presence, including the North Melbourne Football Club, Renegades Cricket Club, and the police with a police car and fire brigade with a truck.
  • Food from different cultures to go with our ‘Around the World’ theme, and sweet treats such as fairy floss. You and the family can have snacks and dinner at the fete.
  • Entertainment, including a parent band, school rock band, Capoeira, Bollywood and tap dancing
  • Silent auction: there will be lots of items available, from vouchers to games and gift hampers.  Find items you would like to buy, place a bid, and if your offer is the highest at the end, you buy it, get the item and raise money for our school.
  • Other activities and entertainment provided by the year-level groups:
    • Prep: food, including popcorn, bake sale, and fairy floss
    • Year 1: dress ups such as henna, face painting, nail polish, and crazy hair
    • Year 2: adopt a bear and quality second-hand items such as games, books, and toys
    • Year 3: sideshow alley, previous examples include jaffa smash, lego launcher, minion bowling
    • Year 4: homegrown, think plants, seeds, pots etc.
    • Year 5: hand-made, craft activities, badge making, scrunchies
    • Year 6: try your luck, including tombola, and guess the number of jellybeans
    • Library: guess the book
    • Auslan: Auslan bingo

Who is organising the fete?

The fete takes a huge amount of time and effort to organise.  The fete is organised by the NMPS Parents and Friends Association, a group of volunteer parents and family members of children who attend the school.  Teachers at each level work with their classes to develop the stalls and activities for the year-level themes.

How can I get involved?

  • Donate items for year-level stalls and activities
  • Donate items for the hampers that will be available at the silent auction
  • Put your name down to volunteer on the day
  • Buy your tickets early for great discounts
  • Come along to join in the fun on Friday 4 November, 4-8 pm
  • Spend big on our silent auction to raise money for our school
  • Bring your own plates and cups to the fete to avoid disposables
