SAKG

Cooking:

It was exciting to have the 3/4 and 5/6 students back in the kitchen this week, and we are looking forward to a wonderful term creating and sharing some delicious dishes.

During our first lesson we considered our Food Identity, and what shapes the food choices we make, such as likes/dislikes, our senses, cultural backgrounds, family traditions, ethical and sustainable considerations, etc. We discussed how no two people have the same Food Identity and created our own Identity Stars.

We are excited to be welcoming back volunteers to our SAKG cooking classes. This term years 3/4 and 5/6 will be cooking on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s. Stayed tuned for a Compass feed where you can sign up to the volunteer roster. Fingers crossed we can  make this happen!

Gardening:

Welcome Home Chickens!

Today we welcomed our lovely girls back to the school. Sweetie, Rogue and Fluffy looked slightly confused as they were released back into their pen, but it didn't take long for them to be scratching, exploring and searching for bugs.

The very enthusiastic Grade 3/4 chicken monitors are being trained up for chicken caring duty and will be responsible for their care on school days. We are always looking for weekend and holiday chicken carers and you can sign up by following the link on compass or by emailing the office.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Jordy, Nick, Spencer and Reuben Lew for taking such great care of the chickens over the past year.

Feel free to come and say hello to them and welcome them back to Monty Primary.

Claire and Elisa.
