Classroom News & Student Awards

This week's assembly

Apologies that this is in three parts, we had some tech issues.

Classroom News

Junior Class

This week in the Junior Room, Christmas has begun and we have started to decorate the classroom!  Two cheeky elves named Alfie and Alfina have arrived and they are watching for wonderful and kind behaviour.  They appeared in our reading corner and on Wednesday watched us from above on the old projector!  We are excited to find out where they might appear next.  We have been loving our unit on data in maths and have been asking lots of questions of each other to collect data and form graphs.  In Religion we have made Christmas cards for those at Avonlea to spread kindness and compassion through the community.  We hope everyone who receives one likes them and we thank Miss Webb and her connections for getting all the cards there for us.

Senior Class

What a year we’ve had, it has been a year of kindness and encouragement, so thank you to all the families and especially our incredible students for making this year a great one (despite everything else going on).  The Senior class have been getting excited for Christmas and yesterday the class worked together to create our own Christmas Wonderland!  We had lots of fun, singing along to Michael Bublé and hanging lights, tinsel and most importantly displaying my crazy collection of Christmas Gnomes! (I’m up to 7 and counting).

I want to wish all the Grade 6’s the best of luck for next week during transition.  I know each and every one of them will have an incredible time and have lots of fun!

Keep the reading momentum rolling in the school holidays ...

Students should keep reading for at least 10 minutes a day over the school holidays to set themselves up for a great start to the new school year.  It will keep their brains active, develop overall reading skills and their love of reading.  To help families keep their reading momentum rolling over the holidays, Scholastic are releasing some reading resources at the end of term, including

  • Fun competitions and reading challenges
  • Reading games for the holidays
  • Author and illustrator tutorials
  • Book recommendations
  • Extra special book sales and promotions
  • Reading tips and more!

Stay tuned for more information.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Caleb and Harmony with Little Joey awards.

Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  This week's vouchers were donated by Cambrelle's.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.

Happy Birthday wishes to
