Rocketing to Read Program (R2R)

Rocketing to Read Program (R2R)
We are very pleased to introduce the Rocketing to Read Program (R2R). This reading program will commence next week and will run at the same time students have reading within their own classroom.
The R2R program is part of the Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI). You may have heard about this initiative in the media. The Victorian Government is investing $250 million in the Tutor Learning Initiative to address the concerns teachers, parents and the community had about how students were impacted by COVID and Learning from Home.
We know that the remote learning experience was different for every student. While some students thrived, some students may not have engaged as fully with remote learning. For most of our students, our regular high-quality teaching in 2021 will be enough to help your child progress to the expected level of learning. Some students will benefit from a little more intensive learning support – this will be done through our Rocketing to Read program.
The teachers involved in this program are:
Kylie Coker | Year 1 |
Marge Lang | Year 2 + one Year 1 |
Jane O’Halloran | Year 3 |
Sujata Symons | Year 4 |
Elicia Briggs | Year 5 |
Sarah Lord | Year 6 |
The great thing about the R2R program is that every child at Greenvale will benefit from it. While a small group of children are working with our R2R teachers, your child’s classroom teacher will have less students to focus on in the classroom during reading. This means all children will benefit from more face-to-face teacher time and attention.
If you child is involved in the new R2R program we will contact you soon via Compass and an Individual Education Plan will be presented to you at Meet and Greet.
We can’t wait to start this new program and we look forward to keeping you updated with how it is going.
