Getting in the Art Zone

with Mrs Chiovitti

We are establishing a positive and calm class climate in the Art studio.

Music is a big part of their creative time, whether it’s mindfulness or upbeat tunes depending on the activity. We kicked off the week with Teambuilding CL structures that made everyone smile and interact in a positive way. Students also had the opportunity to work solo and experience the ‘Art Zone.’

Environmental Studies

with Ms Forbes

Nature Play - The Foundation to Year 2 students enjoyed their first time outside exploring our natural environment. They made restaurants, campfires, birds nest, shops and instruments using the materials they found in the school yard.

Kitchen garden - The Year 3 and 4 students have been busy completing their food handling certificates in preparation for the kitchen session later in the term. Each class spent time outside exploring the new Indigenous garden and caring for our vegetable garden.

Environmental Science - The Year 5 and 6 students have been learning about energy and climate. They have been exploring the effects of coal mining on our environment. The choc chip mining experiment was a hit, although a bit crumbly (ask your kids about this experiment).

Physical Vibe with Mrs Curtois

Welcome back to 2021. I am so excited (as are the students) for a year full of lots of Physical Vibe fun and sporting events!

For our first Physical Vibe lesson we focused on being brave and giving everything a go. Even if it meant we had to gallop like a horse using a pool noodle or use a pool noodle as a skipping rope.

We also completed different physical activities that required lots of teamwork!

For the remainder of term the Subschool focuses are:

Junior School - Improving our locomotor skills of running, skipping, balancing, hopping and galloping through fun mini activities and games.

Middle School - Perform sequences of fundamental movement skills and ball control skills in game play.

Senior School - Perform multiple movement sequences with a focus on object control and target games.

Events

We have two sporting events to look forward to in term 1.

House Swimming Carnival - year 4, 5 & 6 on Wednesday 24th February.

House Cross Country - whole school on Wednesday 24th March.

In order for these events to run smoothly we need Volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering at a school event keep an eye out for relevant event links to register your interest. Please note that you must have a current working with children check to help at any school event.
