Victorian Lockdown

Flexibility is the key to stability. - John Wooden

Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, yesterday announced a circuit-breaker lockdown that will extend for five days. This impacts schools and our school will be closed Monday 15th February, Tuesday 16th February and Wednesday 17th February. At this stage students are returning to school on Thursday.

This is hugely disappointing for everyone, we have started the year with such vitality and joy at reconnecting and learning in the environment we all enjoy so much. Hopefully this short lockdown period will change the tide of numbers and we can return to on-site teaching and learning soon and safely!

I want to thank everyone for helping keep us all safe both in the upcoming week, and for the whole year so far. We have asked community members to be flexible and our students to be resilient, in order to maintain safety for everyone, and we appreciate how supportive and understanding you have all been.

On-Site Supervision Program

As we must limit the number of adults on-site, only children of essential workers and vulnerable children are permitted to attend the supervision program this week. If your child is unable to stay at home Monday - Wednesday, please send an email to hannah.reid@education.vic.gov.au with your child’s name, grade and the days they will need to come to school next week, so we can arrange enough staff to provide supervision. Families may receive a call from the school to check details of why your child requires supervision at school.

Please be aware that, like in 2020, this program is a supervision program only and students attending school will not necessarily have their classroom teacher or be in their usual classroom.

To support social-distancing at the end of the day, all students will be supervised  leaving the through the front gate at the following times:

  • Grades 4-6: leaving at 3.15pm
  • Grade 3s: leaving at 3.20pm
  • Grade 1/2s: leaving 3.25
  • Foundies: 3.30

Students will be asked to use hand sanitiser upon entry to the school.

Learning at Home

Due to the short-notice for this lockdown, the temporary nature of the lockdown, the time of the year and the fact that our students were not at school on Friday, we will not be able to provide teleconferencing lessons for students at home. If the lockdown is extended, or if we return to a lockdown later in the year, teleconferencing will resume.

Activity packs will be sent home by Sunday evening, to allow for time to review the activities before Monday. Teachers will be available over the three days through Sentral messages.

Returning to School

We hope to be returning to on-site learning from Thursday 18th February. Before this day, we will provide any updates from DET or the school, regarding the learning program and any requirements for returning students (such as allocated drop-off and pick-up zones).

Parents & Carers On-Site

It has been such a pleasure to see parents and carers start to return to our school grounds and we were thoroughly looking forward to inviting families to attend our Friday afternoon assemblies - our gathering last Friday was a truly joyful and moving experience. Due to the lockdown, we are unfortunately no longer allowed to let parents or carers on the school premises, until further notice. We are sorry for this news, but hope to be able to invite you all back soon.

Family Information Forums

Due to the lockdown, our Family Information Forums will be postponed until further notice.
