Junior School

After a successful Swimming Carnival a couple of weeks ago the School Swimming Team is now looking forward to next Monday’s HICES Carnival held at Sydney Olympic Park. It promises to be a day of keen competition and our first real chance to compete in any format as a School since COVID restrictions kicked in about this time last year, so we are all looking forward to this opportunity.
Whilst in the midst of our swimming season, it was my pleasure to present our Age Champions with their medallions at Assembly this past week. Congratulations to the following recipients:
8/9 yrs Lucie Hammon and Henry Pascoe
10 yrs Carlia Diskin and Lucas Rutherford
11 yrs Amelie Emmerson and Xavier Stephens
12/13 yrs Lizzie Nealon-Cook and Keeden Harrison
The Max Lewis Trophy for embracing the spirit of the Carnival was awarded to Jessica Nutt who was also named Swimming Captain, along with James Klein who together exemplify our School values of eager participation, stretching oneself and demonstrating good sportsmanship regardless of the result of competition. Congratulations to all of these children and good luck to the team for next week’s carnival.
Next week also contains our School Cross Country carnival on Friday. All students from Years 3 to 6 compete in an adventurous course around our school grounds under the watchful eye of teachers and parent volunteers as officials. If you would like to volunteer as an official so that you can come and watch the races, please send an email to our Head of Sport, Mrs Harris who will happily allocate you an official role (mharris@bmgs.nsw.edu.au).
For further information please refer to recent communication regarding the Carnival or contact Reception.
