Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday took place last week and marks the start of Lent, 40 days before Easter.  Lent is a time to reflect on our lives, to remember that we all have a chance to make good our mistakes and start things over if we need to.  Rather than just give things up for Lent, we are encouraged to go out of our way to help others.  This week we launch Project Compassion, which raises money for Caritas. The children are taught that what seems like little to us can make a big difference to people in 3rd world conditions.  It is a great opportunity for us to go without a few things during Lent and put that money in our Project Compassion boxes. The Gr 3-6 students attended mass in the Church which was a very reflective liturgy.

School Fete Friday 13th March

Please come and support our school fete next week.  The P&F have been busy organising what will be a great evening of fun, food and prizes!

Gr 5/6 Camp

Good luck to all the Gr 5/6 students as they head off to Roses Gap for their camp next week.  I look forward to hearing about what will be a fantastic time for them all.

Prep Coffee Morning

We had a great role up for our first Coffee morning for Prep parents last week.  I hope it assists with parents to make connections with staff and other parents.  Thank you to Mrs Cox & Mrs Davkovski for organising the catch up.

River Connect

Well done to the Gr 3/4 students for cleaning up the St Mary's River Connect site last week.  The facilitators commented that our children were the most well mannered group of children he had ever worked with!  What a fantastic compliment!  Also thank you to Mr Gibson, who has continued our committment to River Connect for many years.

Shrove Tuesday

Thanks to all the parents who joined us on Shrove Tuesday to cook pancakes.  What a great morning!

Champion Swimmer!

Gr 6 student Stella Freeman has recently taken part in State Swimming Championships where she made the final for Breaststroke.  She also made it through to the divisional inter school competition after winning at the GV  carnival last week.

New Administration Offices

Thank you for the positive comments regarding our refurbished Administration and new front offices.  We are gradually fitting the rooms out with furniture and artwork.  The School Board are close to making a decision about signage out the front of the school.  I am very excited about what we have come up with.

Fantastic Board Game!

This fun educational game was brought to my attention this week from a parent. The game introduces children to the concepts around money, how it is earned and that goods can be purchased with money.

School Board AGM

Our School Board Annual General Meeting is taking place on Tuesday 17th March at 7:30pm.  All parents and carers are welcome to attend.  If there is anyone interested in being a parent representative on the Board please contact myself at school or the School Board Chair Glenn James (0418 575 212).
