The Sunroom - 8s & 9s

Welcome to the Sunroom

It’s wonderful to welcome new members into our community.   As a way of getting to know each other, we’ve asked the children the question: ‘Who Am I?’

In collaboration with Claire (Art) we considered what we might be able to assume about the identities of people in various images.

To fire up the thinking we considered some curious questions:

  • Would you be different if you had a different name?  How?
  • When people are pleased with you, what do they call you?
  • When people are angry with you, what do they call you?
  • Since you were born, you’ve grown and changed.  What has stayed the same apart from your name?

Charlotte - My eye colour?

Aidan - My DNA?

Michael - How can we be sure?

To find out what we currently understand and think about the concept of self-identity, the children recorded their thoughts as an identity map.

We spent time getting to know each other whilst creating covers for our Scrapbooks and playing some board games.
