vcal adventure

The Year 12 VCAL class embarked on an epic trip last month - using the opportunity to develop their life skills, enjoy each other's company and to celebrate a busy and successful year to date.

Camp programs are always good fun - and always an opportunity to learn and experience new things - independence, adventure and challenge!

The VCAL students embraced these opportunities and utilised them in order to meet specific learning outcomes required for their Work Related Skills assessments.

This camp was a collaborative event:  students worked as a team to ensure the success of the program,  all the time developing important leadership, teamwork and communication skills  - learning the importance of listening to, and cooperating  with, their team mates.

Prior to camp,  they were  active in managing the camp logistics  -  meal planning,  sourcing  and preparing equipment for the group as well as attending to their personal packs. As a group, they considered and discussed the trip requirements - rigourous hiking , navigation and camp set-up  - so that they were aware of  potential risk factors  and prepared for any eventuality.  This preparation stood them in good stead. By committing to participate,  they also made a commitment to the team and they were there to support, encourage and celebrate each other's achievements along the way.

Together, they worked to achieve their goals - and together they reaped the rewards!
