On the September 14 the Media CCP cast and crew filmed our yearly school short film.

Over the past two terms, the Media Club has been formulating the concept and storyline for the film before then creating a script and shot list.

The day of filming required our cast and crew (main actors, extras and camera operators} to focus on multiple aspects of the film including continuity, scheduling and co-directing. The filming process took around six hours as we had to ensure we had all the necessary footage to begin editing toward the final product. This process of pre-production and production filming was a fun learning experience for all members involved.

We know that the film turns out well after all the hard work we have put into it and hope to see everyone at the BSC Film Festival on Tuesday 19th November at the Cinema Nova to celebrate its release.

Media Club Coordinator

As you can see from the accompanying photos, the members of the Cocurricular Program Media Club were working hard last week, filming their own superhero action comedy short film.

The Media Club spent the first half of the year devising their film idea and going through pre-production. This meant covering off a variety of aspects,  including developing an understanding of genre and screenplay writing conventions.

It is wonderful to see students in younger year levels interacting and creatively collaborating with senior students in a cross-year level project.  Older students are  eager to share their skills and experience, and the younger students are just as excited to listen and learn from them!  It is a film made for the students, by the students - and the club has certainly enjoyed this year's project.

This project is a fabulous opportunity to introduce Year 7 & 8 students to  the film-making process,  as it gives them a glimpse of what media studies is about,  before they have the choice to select Media as an elective subject in Years 9 and 10.
