Associate Principal, Operations Report

Staffing

We are pleased to announce the following staff appointments for 2020.

Mrs Leanne Outtram has been appointed to teach Geography throughout the Senior School.  Mrs Outtram is an experienced and passionate teacher of Geography who has worked on projects with Mr Rob Drummond and Mr Paul Carroll in past years, particularly with regard to resource-sharing and VCE activities.  She also knows the College well, having been the parent of two students here in previous years.

Mr Jarran Cook is confirmed as a teacher of Business Studies and is likely to assist in the Geography area, ensuring that his expertise in both subjects will not be missed.  His previous experience at Emmanuel College in Bradford, UK stands him in good stead in these areas.  He has already settled into the College in his current role replacing Ms Nettleton for the remainder of 2019; we look forward to having him with us full-time in 2020.

Mrs Callina Vaughan has been appointed to teach Chinese Language and Culture at the Junior School.  She has a sound knowledge of Chinese and has taught this language with enthusiasm for a number of years.  Mrs Vaughan has taught students at Myrniong as a relief teacher and is looking forward to returning more regularly.

Warning

We receive regular updates from the Department of Education of alerts and warnings at schools throughout the state.  On Wednesday of this week, we received the following advice regarding a student at another school in Hamilton: “a male student aged 13, in Year 7 has been approached by two unknown adults, requesting him to get in their car, on his way home.”  Middle Years Mentors and the Boarding House have been asked to ensure students are aware of this and react appropriately if they encounter a similar situation.  Parents may wish to discuss how to deal with such a situation with their children also.
