Italian
Ciao a tutti,
Italian
Ciao a tutti,
Ciao a tutti,
What a ‘fantastico’ start to the term! Everyone has settled into Term 2 well. It’s been great to hear that everyone had a lovely break, and some enjoyed some ‘speciale’ celebrations.
This term Year 5 and 6 students will be learning about the geography and history of ‘Italia’. They have been exploring Italia, Roma, and ‘Roma Antica’/Ancient Rome. We have learnt about the mythology of Romulus and Remus; the twin brothers who founded Rome. Students have been collecting information on their chosen Ancient Rome landmark or monument and are preparing to present their group project to the class. They will continue to write sentences about these landmarks in Italian, from modelled language.
Year 3 and 4 students have also been learning about ‘Italia’ and its geography, cultural icons, and food. They have been making comparisons to Australia and its location and way of life. Students are consolidating knowledge and understanding of Italia and its language whilst discovering new information through games. They are participating in small group work to share their learning with the class.
Year 1 and 2 students have been learning about famous Italian landmarks and cities. We have been reading the story of “La Macchinetta Rossa”. This little red car races to different cities in Italy and visits famous landmarks. Everyone had fun playing La Macchinetta Rossa game!
Foundation students have been learning about Italia with Pinocchio, our class puppet. They took turns to greet and introduce themselves in Italian. Everyone enjoyed making their own Pinocchio craft puppet. Students also learnt about ‘colori’/colours through songs and games.
Eccellente!
Saluti,
Signora Harrington
