All Systems Go!
It has been a smooth start to Term 2. The students in years F – 2 are singing songs, learning new dances, reading rhythms, and using solfage to identify pitch. Year 3’s and 4’s are singing rounds and working on two and three part harmony as well as chords for the ukulele. Year 5’s and 6’s are feverishly learning either an instrumental part, a vocal part, or choreographing a dance for their Battle of the Bands song. Along with concerts, reports, and portfolios, it’s going to be a very busy term.
Open Day Concert
Wednesday, May 17th
11- 11.30am
Start Up Strings and Orchestra will perform a number of songs from their repertoire as well as demonstrating the skills they have mastered so far this year. Our groups are sounding so great. Liz Bonetti, is away and we have many new faces in the Strings department. Come along and meet them.
Battle of the Bands
Thursday, 15th June
12 – 1.40pm in the school hall.
Every class in years five and six prepare a song, and are fully engaged in singing, dancing, and instrumental activities. Students are volunteering their time at recess and lunch to come and rehearse. Bookings for the Music Room in these times are essential. I’m very impressed with the extra effort students are already demonstrating. It’s such an exciting event as the vocal and instrumental accompaniments, as well as the choreography for the dances are created by the students. The whole school attends the event and parents are welcome. It will be live streamed for those who are unable to come along on the day.
