Welcome to Ivanhoe Primary School,
What an incredible community we have here at IPS!
As Mrs Hemsley and I have been outside before school and after school this term, we have noticed so many positive interactions between parents, students and even ‘most’ of our friendly pets! Sharing in a conversation, a friendly wave or a happy hello can really make a difference in many people’s lives, including our children. This positive role modelling is an outstanding example for our young people to witness. They notice everything and our example gives them ‘permission’ to interact in the same way. Hence, this is why IPS has such amazing children which our teachers ‘love’ to teach.
We are so fortunate here at IPS! Our school values of respect, resilience, persistence, confidence and independence truly reflect what great citizens in our community display. So, thank you IPS community! We really do appreciate YOU and all you do to contribute to the special tone of IPS.
If you see someone by themselves, please stop to offer a friendly wave, smile, or chat. You never know, it might really make someone’s day.
Finally, please try to make the time to just say hello or thank you to your children’s teachers. Sometimes we are so busy that our best intentions are sometimes lost or forgotten. And on that note, I hope you have a lovely week! 😊
Our students are lucky to have such great role models and it has been great to see parents and carers driving safely around the school this term. I've seen the vast majority of drivers following safe practices. Just remember, that children don't have a fully developed road sense and can be unpredicatable around traffic, no matter how great a driver you think you are, it is not safe to reverse at any point in Ailsa Grove.
Please, if you are driving particularly down Ailsa Grove, use the turning circle. Please be patient with others and finally, if you're stopped in the kiss and go bays, please stay in your car or find another spot if you'd like to come into school with your children.
I'm saddened to have to write, that this afternoon there was an unfortunate incident between parents displaying agressive behaviours at school pick up.
Road rage is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. School pick up and drop off times are extremely busy times. You must allow extra time. You need to be patient and respectful - remember, our children follow our lead!
Ivanhoe Primary School are hosting two free face-to-face Online Safety and Digital Wellbeing sessions* this month.
The sessions will be delivered by Evolve Education, who are a trusted e-safety.gov.au provider. The sessions will be full of practical strategies and resources to help improve online safety and promote digital wellbeing for your children.
Each evening will focus on a different age/stage, so it is recommended you book to attend both sessions if you have children in the lower and upper school.
Dates/Times:
Foundation - Year 2 session: Thursday 18th May at 7pm
Year 3 - Year 6: Wednesday 31st May at 7pm
(Both sessions will take place in IPS Collaboration Space)
To book a place at either of the session please register at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd6lEOi3M2u8P8G_Ec-47N98JBayC3s0vNxqykxFKInERmnSw/viewform

Keep an eye open for more information about our annual Open Morning on 17th May. We look forward to welcoming the community into our classrooms.
It's not too late to book a place for the Mother's Day Breakfast....
Order in advance via My School Connect for the Mothers' Day breakfast which will be held in the school hall on May 11th from 7:30-8:30am. Don't be late as the packing up the hall starts at 8:30am on the dot so that it is ready for PE lessons!
So that we’ll have room for everyone we’re celebrating on the day, where possible, please limit to Mum/Special Person and IPS students (and younger siblings).
Many thanks to Lance and his band of volunteers for making this special event happen and thanks also to Mary Zhou for her lovely art work.
This is going to be an exciting year for our community. Please join us by contacting our PFA Coordinator, Andrea Thomas on 0431 953 720.
Please volunteer as your time to help us make it a fantastic fair!
Many hands make light work!
Congratulations to Leo H in 4K who finished 3rd in his State 50m breaststroke swim last Friday. To get to the State final Leo won his district, division, and regional swim. Setting a new meet record for his time in the regional swim.
What an achievement Leo! Well done!
Our staff will be learning more about wellbeing and mental health at a joint school day with expert speakers. It will be a student- free day. Unfortunately, there were not enough student bookings to make it viable to run OSHC for the day.
Have a great week!
