STRONG MINDS,

GENTLE HEARTS

Mother's Day Assembly

Last Thursday we celebrated the mothers and mother figures in our lives at our Mother's Day assembly. It is certainly a very special way to celebrate the integral role that mothers play in our lives. It was wonderful having them join us at the assembly and morning tea.  At the core of Marist spirituality is Mary our Good Mother. The love of Mary, like that of all mothers, is gentle and feminine, yet, also strong and firm. It is a love that does not waver.

A mother is a son’s first teacher. She teaches him the values of caring, love, compassion and respect for others with a greater influence than any other person. A mother’s ever-present support and guidance build confidence in boys and enables them to truly understand what it is to become a gentleman. The foundations of the bond between mothers and sons enable strong relationships within the school context. Building positive relationships with parents and students is crucial for quality teaching and learning, especially when it comes to boys. These relationships form the foundation for effective education.

Year 8 Camp

This week the Year 8 students attended their camp on Fitzroy Island, which has proven over many years to be a most formative and memorable experience for the boys. Thank you to all parents for their assistance in preparing their sons for the camp. Also, a sincere expression of gratitude goes to the staff that facilitated the camps, the school-based activities program and the staff who covered classes back at the College.

Haircuts

As we approach the halfway point of the term, please ensure that your son attends to his hair by making an appointment at the hairdresser or barber. Please proactively ensure that your son’s hair is cut to meet the College’s expectations, as outlined on page 11 of the student diary, without waiting to be asked by his Head of Year.

Personal Mobility Devices – Scooters

Please inform your sons about the recently implemented rules regarding Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs), with a specific emphasis on scooters. It is important to reinforce their understanding of these rules.
