Week 2 Update
Welcome back to the start of Term 2. We hope that you enjoyed the beautiful weather over the holidays and had a chance to share some quality time with your families. We have had a great start, and everyone is back focussed on high-quality teaching and learning.
Would you believe that it is 12 months since we moved into the redeveloped Mellor. It is such a privilege to have a new and innovative learning environment that will benefit students and staff into the future. We have had many visitors to the school who comment about how wonderful the learning areas are and how they accommodate for flexible modern learning. Well done LNPS!
We started the term with a Pupil Free Day last Monday where our staff were onsite participating in professional learning. It was a privilege to continue our Visible Learning+ learning with David Whitehead from Corwin Education. The focus for the day was 'Making Learning Visible'. Staff engaged in learning to inform and develop knowledge, confidence and skills in understanding the importance of teacher clarity, and evaluating learning intentions and success criteria. This is vital learning to continue to ensure that we have shared understandings, a shared language of learning and shared practices across the school, that make learning visible for all students.
Our teachers will collaborate further to refine and implement these approaches into our teaching and learning in the coming weeks.
School Values
In the last few weeks of Term 1, the Leadership Team undertook classroom visits to observe the teaching of school values, specifically Respect. As you would be aware this has been a major focus across all classes. It was extremely impressive to see our teachers explicitly teach Respect, and our students' level of understanding. Well done everyone!!
This term we will be continuing our focus on values and going further with our new Learner Qualities.
