Literacy and Numeracy

Mathematics - How often do you ask your child about their learning?

Talking to your child about their mathematics has many great benefits. Students explaining their learning can help consolidate their learning. This can also have a positive impact on their attitude towards mathematics.

Your challenge this fortnight is to regularly ask your child about what they are currently learning. I would love to hear some of their responses via email!

Premiers' Reading Challenge Update

The Premiers' Reading Challenge has officially started and everyone at St James is invited to participate!  The goal of the Challenge is to foster a love of reading of quality literature.

To complete the Challenge, our Year Prep - 2 students need to read a minimum of 30 books with 20 of those being from the Challenge list.  Our Year 3 - 6 students need to read a minimum of 15 books with 10 of those being from the Challenge list.

Your child's teacher is able to distribute your child's log in details.  Please be in touch if you require any assistance.

To log into the Challenge go to https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home

So far we have 31 students who have commenced the challenge and 4 who have already completed it, including one of our Prep students!  Well done everyone!

Happy reading!
