School Council News

Sharon Behen

As we rocket towards the middle of the year, you can certainly feel the pace of activity at the school!

It’s exciting to see our collective patience is soon to be rewarded, with lawn down on the new oval, and just a few weeks of establishment time before the kids are unleashed to play, run, kick (and possibly roll!) on what will be one of the marquee facilities of our school.

The Parents and Carers Association is in a busy period with successful events including the Mario Bros movie night, Walkathon, Mothers and Carers lunch, and Gratitude stall. They are now busily preparing for the Parents’ party, confirmed for August 4th.

However, the key activity for School Council this month was the approval of the school’s annual report.

As Councilors, we utilise the time in our meetings to question and interrogate the data reported in these documents, data collected via Naplan results and surveys, all with the backdrop of anecdotal information we hear ourselves in the school community.

EPS is tracking well against key metrics including student engagement, wellbeing, and staff engagement. Our financial position is sound and the learning outcomes for students are improving with every year. Inevitably, there are areas for improvement, but the overall picture of the school is incredibly healthy. If you would like to view the EPS Annual report yourself, you can do so here

Finally, we would also like to take a moment to congratulate Mark Williams on his election (unopposed) to the office of Vice-President of the School Council.
