Health and Wellbeing Day
On Thursday 11 May, the sun was shining for a fantastic Health and Wellbeing Day with the Year 11s. The day began with a highly educational and informative talk from Adam and Nathan of the Positive Speakers Bureau. They talked to the students about the spread of STIs and safe sex, and the stigma around living with HIV.
After a challenging but engaging start to the day, Mr Bleakley lightened up the mood with some fun warm up activities which got the students moving and laughing.
Competition on the sporting field was fierce with students taking spills and showing their skills in multi-ball and Ultimate. Luckily all came up smiling.
A more relaxing time was had by the students on the lake walk who enjoyed seeing the sun after a few rainy days.
Barefoot bowls was also a highlight for those that attended, with a big thanks to the volunteers at Lilydale Bowls who are always willing to give their time.
Healthy cooking was an option that almost all students chose, making delicious fruit smoothies and oat energy balls.
Mindfulness drawing was a fantastic way to unwind and calm the minds of many students, with some very interesting art on display during these sessions. Beat Sabre competition and board games round robin, saw many smiling faces.
The day wrapped up with a very enthusiastic and highly contested trivia activity.
A delicious lunch was catered by Tasty Az, a social enterprise which employs vulnerable people and that comes highly recommended by the Senior School Team.
Thanks to all the amazing teachers who volunteered to give up their time in the planning and running of these sessions. The smiles on the students’ faces said it all. These teachers included; Jonathan Bleakley, Justin Tullet, Alister Stuart, Phil Carr, Elissia Demetris, Sarah Hardy, Zoe Younger, Caitlin Marshall, Dave Blaxland, Riana Asta, Jye Cuff, the food team and the whole of the Senior School Team.
Our Captains, Liv Bradshaw, Noah Vincent, Indii Peacock and Charley Reynolds were also instrumental in making this day run well.
Thanks also to Laura Bentley and Jenson New for helping run the VR activities.
Organisation Skills!
A big shout out to Alyssa Goodman of 11F. I was given consent to take this photo of her locker after I swooned and praised her for her organisation skills! Fantastic!
