Mr Irwin's Message

Hello Families and welcome to Term 2! We look forward to having students return to school on Wednesday April 26th after ANZAC Day.

I hope you've had an enjoyable Easter Holiday period and that students are looking forward to returning to school, and that you are looking forward to have them return to school!

Term 2 will prove to be a short, sharp term. Teachers are organised and ready with curriculum plans ready to hit the ground running to maximise learning across the term. There's a number of Sporting Events taking place, including our whole school Cross Country as well as representative Winter Sports sides. To finish the term our Senior School classes are off to Urban Camp in Melbourne for what should be a spectacular 3 days in the city!

Cross Country

Cross Country Day - Friday 28th April

Drop off - as normal at the school, students will be walked down to the Don Wallace Reserve. Senior students will be walked down at midday and junior students at 1:15pm.

Pick Up - 3:00pm at DON WALLACE RESERVE OVAL. This will give us more time for students to compete and saves tired legs at the end of the day! Please ensure you make direct contact with your child's classroom teacher at pick up so they can be marked as collected. Feel free to arrive a little earlier for the presentation of the winning house. Students in OSH will be walked back to school.

What to wear - during this event, students will be encouraged to come in their house colours.

What to bring - please pack a small bag (ideally not their school bag) with lunch, a water bottle (this can be refilled at the venue), school hat and sunscreen.

Asthmatics - asthma medication for students who self-administer must be kept on their person on the day. For all other students whose asthma medication is kept at school, this will be taken to the event with our First Aid Officer. All students with asthma plans must complete the attached Camps and Excursions Form and return on the day of the event.

Bikes - students riding must still ride to school and can walk their bikes with their class to the oval.

Event times - all times are approximate and subject to change

11-year-old Race: 12:55pm

9/10-Year-Old Boys Race: 1:20pm

Grade 1/2 Race: 2:00pm

Foundation Race: 2:15pm

Dismissal: 2:45pm from Don Wallace Reserve

Please Note:

Age group is determined by the age you turn in 2023. Grade 3s who turn 8 in 2023 will compete in this race but they will not be able to progress to the next level. There is no 9-year-old category at the next level, so 9 year olds will have to compete against 10 year olds.

For the students that are of age 9 or above, this is an opportunity for them to be selected to represent Teesdale Primary School in the MVA Cross Country. This will be happening in Week 2. Students will be selected for this event based on times and not position. More information will be released to those students that are successful after the T.P.S Cross Country Event.

Spectators - Spectators are welcome and encouraged! There will be very limited parking around the oval as this will be utilised for the race. We ask that parents park down the bottom of the hill and walk up to the oval. We kindly ask that all spectators remain off the oval while the events are running.

Parent's Club Fundraiser - Cookies/ Doughnuts - cookies and doughnuts will be available for purchase on the day as an additional fundraiser for the school's parents club, if your child would like to purchase one please send along some coins.
