Sleek Geeks Science Competition

In a collaboration between a few of our Year 6 captains, Karoo Primary School have submitted an entry into this year's Australian Museum - Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize. It is a yearly science competition that encourages students to communicate a scientific concept in a way that is accessible and entertaining to the public through a short 2 min video.

The team consisting of our media captains - Ethan Box and Raymond Le, our science captains - David Wen and Aidan Dunlop, LOTE captain - Nathaniel Zhang and a special extra help from school captain - Jack De Bolfo, created an original film all about the topic of Coral. Titled 'A Deep Dive into Coral' they looked at the formation, threats and preservation of one of Australia's most beautiful marine invertebrate.

The team spent their lunchtimes and recess in the Media room to research, record and edit the film in order to have the movie submitted by term 1 holidays. Utilizing the new technology which we have at Karoo of video cameras, microphones, editing program and green screens, they submitted a creative and informative short film that captures a fun and educational dive into the world of coral.
