What's happening in Term 2?

Welcome back to Physical Education for Term 2!  We have a very exciting and eventful term ahead with a culmination of sporting events on the horizon for our students. This includes District Cross Country, House Athletics, District Sport (Winter) and Girls Division Football

Please find some information below regarding these events:

District Cross Country

Good luck to all students from Year 3-6 who are competing in District Cross Country this Friday 5th May at Jells Park. As outlined in the event information on Compass, competitors are required to arrive at the Gym at 8:50am as the bus will leave promptly at 9am. The supervising teachers (Mr Edwards, Miss Markovic and Miss Moyle) will organise the students prior to departure, including recording the students race numbers on their hand in preparation for the event. Therefore, it is extremely important that your child arrives on time. Competition starts at 10am and concludes at approximately 12:30pm. The order of events will be 9/10 boys (2km), 9/10girls (2km), 11 boys (3km), 11 girls (3km), 12/13 boys (3km) and 12/13 girls (3km).

A reminder that all students competing are required to arrive at school in their Karoo school uniform or sports uniform. When running, students may wear their Karoo sports top, as well as runners and running shorts. Students are also encouraged to bring a drink bottle, lunch, school windcheater, rain jacket and asthma medication (if required).

Consent/Payment on Compass has now officially closed.

House Athletics

On Friday 19th May, all students from Year 3-6 will travel (via Bus) to AC Robertson Athletics Track in Ringwood.  As outlined in the event information on Compass, students are required to arrive at their classroomat 8:50am, as the bus will leave promptly at 9am. To ensure the attendance roll has been marked prior to departure, it is extremely important that your child arrives on time. Competition starts at 9:30am and concludes at approximately 2:30pm.

All students will participate in four track events (including the 100m sprint, 100m hurdles, 200m sprint and 800m endurance run), as well as four field events (including discus, shot put, long jump and triple jump). By simply participating in each of these events, students will earn points for their house. To add to the competition between houses, students are encouraged to wear their house colours on the day. They will also need to wear runners.  Students are required to bring a drink bottle, snack, lunch, school windcheater, rain jacket and asthma medication (if required).

Please Note: Students who do not have consent to attend the Karoo House Athletics Carnival will join a class from Foundation - Year 2 for the day.
