ANZAC Day Ceremony

The first day of lessons for Term 2 commenced with learning the significance of ANZAC Day in the Australian calendar. The College gathered for our ceremony to remember the courage and sacrifice, not only of our Diggers in World War I, but all service men and women who have answered the nation's call, right through to the current members of our Defence Forces working in peace keeping missions around the world. Our ceremony marked that this year is the 70th Anniversary of the end of the Korean War, as well as 50 years since the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. A wreath was laid and students learned the significance of The Ode and the military bugle calls of The Last Post and The Rouse. Thanks to our senior concert band for providing a stirring rendition of the Nation Anthem, and Samuel Cummins for the Last Post and Reveille.

Some of Year 11 students completed work during the holidays with the Harding Miller Education Foundation. This foundation assists students facing hardship to ensure that they complete their education. Further opportunities to assist those on the margins will be coming up, as we will support Our Lady of Dolours Parish in their support of 'Streetworks' through working at the Bunnings BBQ in the coming months.

As always, if there are members of our community who work with the marginalised or disadvantaged and you would like the support of student volunteers, please contact me here at the College to discuss how we may be of some assistance.
