EMERGENCY EVACUATION
On Wednesday, the College evacuated all students and staff in response to an alarm in one of our buildings. Although it proved to be a ‘false’ alarm, students and staff followed procedures and the whole College was on the oval in 10 minutes. Following the Evacuation, staff debriefed and identified areas that may need attention. I would like to thank our Risk and Compliance Officer, Mrs Maria Sodano, for her role in overseeing evacuations and ensuring that we maintain up-to-date best practice for the safety of all.
WHEN THE REIGN STOPS
Congratulations to our Year 12 General and ATAR drama students, including show Directors Joel Hazzard (Year 12 Kimberley), Cohan Orzanski (Year 12 Trinity) and Rebecca Brock (Year 12 Hannan) and their teacher, Mrs Caitlin Wills, on an outstanding performance of When The Reign Stops. The production was inspired by Andrew Bovell’s play When the Rain Stops Falling. I thoroughly enjoyed this clever, funny and moving piece. It was evident by the high standards of these actors, that the students put in many hours of rehearsals and thoughtful contemplation on the issue of ‘Inheritance and Legacy’ and portrayed this through four main threads. I would also like to thank all those involved with the set design, costuming, lighting and sound whose creativity encapsulated the theme and vision of this class.
HAVE WE GOT TALENT?
The answer is a resounding YES! Yesterday morning during Extended PCG, students gathered in the Koort Centre for our inaugural Sacred Heart's Got Talent show. Many of our staff expressed to me how entertaining and gifted our students are. Congratulations to KIMBERLEY who were crowned the winners of this event, closely followed by Trinity and Barlow. I look forward to building on this event in 2024 and encouraging more items from across all disciplines of The Arts.
CROSS COUNTRY
Today we held our Competitors' Cross Country Carnival at Carine Open Space and I had the pleasure of being a course marshal. There were some highs and lows on the day but overall our athletes were outstanding, with some beating their own personal best. Congratulations to all competitors, Acting Head of Health and Physical Education, Miss Monique Saunders and all staff involved.
Next week is Holy Week and I wish all staff and students well for the last week of term.
God Bless.
