Carlsruhe Fair

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to all the people involved in the amazing success of our Carlsruhe Fair.

First and foremost, my greatest appreciation to our amazing Carlsruhe Fair Committee who have worked tirelessly for the last year to pull such a huge logistical event together. Of course, not only did the committee members volunteer their valuable time but in many cases the members of their family also got roped in to help.

I would also like to acknowledge all the members of our school community and local Woodend Community who supported our fair through donations or by attendance on the day, as well as people from out of town who made the effort to support us on the day.

Last night we had our final committee meeting to celebrate our success and to also reflect on the any improvements that can be passed on the next committee for future fairs.

There are far too many people to name individually but to each and every one of you who supported our fair, our gratitude is immense.

Class placement

This week we have been finalising student placement for 2023. Again, I ask you to appreciate the complicated logistical process that occurs. Trying to place 435 students and ensure that every student has a friend as well as important factors such as gender equity, the size of the class, social and emotional needs and the spread of academic abilities.

Students will meet their 2023 teacher during our Transition experience on December 13.

PFA morning tea

Yesterday we were treated to a delicious morning tea by our Parent and Friends Committee. This was a highly appreciated gesture from our Parent and Friends Association to acknowledge all the hard work of our staff.

Graduation

On December 14 we look forward to celebrating with our graduating Year 6 students. This is an opportunity to reflect on 7 years of experiences throughout their primary school years and to celebrate achievements and friendships. Our students and teachers will celebrate with a dinner and then parents will join us for the Graduation ceremony. Graduation preparation is well underway at school and our students are very excited about the performance they are practising under Mr. Bromley’s guidance.

Transition/kinder visits

Next week we will have our pre-school students visit for another transition. The excitement is very obvious amongst our new students. Many of our new students already have siblings at WPS students so they are already quite familiar with our teachers and the school setting.
