Primary Interschool Athletics

The Primary Athletics team competed in their second event on Thursday 10 November at the Domain Athletics Centre, in the JSSATIS (Independent Schools) Athletics Carnival.  It’s hard to believe at the moment that we enjoyed such a beautiful hot, sunny day for the event.  Well done to all the girls for trying their best and representing the College so well.  Highlights included:

  • Riley Bain for winning the Year 6 1500m, 800m and placing 3rd in the 400m.
  • Year 6 Division B relay team of Lily Cherry, Ava McDermott, Grace Dixon and Meg Tilyard also performed strongly, finishing 2nd by only 4/100th of a second.
  • Grace Claxton finished 3rd in Year 5 Division A 100m.
  • Charlie Seeber-Peattie came 3rd in Year 5 Vortex.

Secondary Touch Football Finals

The Southern Touch Junior Schools Roster at Wentworth Park has been well represented by Mount Carmel teams in the Year 7/8 competition. After some scheduling issues, the Year 7 and Year 8 rosters were merged into one. There are four Mount Carmel teams in the roster of 12.

The Year 8 Navy team is currently undefeated and is hopeful of playing in the Grand Final next Monday. Clarence High and St Mary’s Blue are also undefeated, so the team is anxiously awaiting final results and confirmation.

The Year 8 Gold team started the season strongly but have come up against the stronger undefeated teams in recent weeks, and are hopeful of bouncing back for their finals match.

The Year 7 teams have done a fantastic job since the rosters merged. With their opponents being mostly Year 8 students, they have been unfazed and have continued to work hard and score some trys.

Goodluck to all teams in their final matches next week, and hopefully we will have some finer weather to enjoy the summer sport of touch football.
