Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and the wider community,

What a beautiful week we have had so far. Certainly I appreciate these warm days after what seemed a long, wet Winter.

Today we have had the first of our four Orientations for 2023 Foundation children with our second one scheduled next Tuesday. With 40 students commencing there are three small groups of children, rather than having 40 pre-schoolers here at once who don't know each other or our routines, so our Foundation teachers can get to know them better.

This Friday our school will be holding a Remembrance Liturgy to acknowledge Armistice Day. The sacrifices of those who have gone before us have contributed to the legacy of what it is to be Australian today. I thank our senior classes for leading this and Mrs Thomas for her organisation.

I am reading regularly about staffing shortages in schools and having just met with the Principal of John Paul College who informed me they are particularly struggling in the secondary system with subject specific staff required moreso.  Fortunately I have St Anne's fully staffed for 2023 but Mrs Kathleen Ronchi will not be joining us after all. She has had a change of circumstances but fortunately for our school I have been able to employ Mrs Ceri de Veer who has been teaching at St Jude's in Langwarrin for the last 15 years. Having taught alongside Ceri and having been her Deputy Principal I know she will be an asset to our school.

I would like to thank our community for all of the contributions of both goods and time in contributing to our Market Day this Sunday. It is a great opportunity to raise some funds for school improvements but equally gives our families a chance to build connectedness as a community. I look forward to seeing many of you here and particularly thank those parents/families who have gone above and beyond in preparation.

God bless

Rod Shaw

Principal
