Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

I hope everyone has been keeping well despite the ongoing inclement weather. With the forecast seemingly on the improve, I hope our students and families are able to get out and enjoy some warmer temperatures and sunshine.

All the best to those students who will commence weekend sport for the first time in a while after being washed out many times recently!

World Teachers Day

On both Monday & Tuesday of this week we celebrated World Teacher's Day with a morning tea provided by PACC on Monday & lunch provided by ES staff on Tuesday.

Our amazing ES staff also made up some beautiful tree posters for all teachers with pictures of their students as the 'leaves' on the tree and some lovely messages from their students on the back.

We really hope that all of our amazing teachers had full bellies & full hearts; you deserve it!

Day for Daniel

During week 4, students in senior secondary organised a day of recognition and fundraiser for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Each year on October 28th, schools from across Australia participate in Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson to learn how to keep themselves safe at home, at school and in the community.

As part of their personal and social development units, senior secondary planned, organised and facilitated the day by encouraging everyone to wear red, bring a gold coin donation and organised a lolly guess game to raise extra fund.

It was great to see so many students get involved and we are proud to announce that as a school we have raised an AMAZING $909 for the foundation (the most we have ever raised on one of these types of days)!

I want to say a big thank you to the students who were involved and well done to the whole Armstrong Creek School community!

Active Tribes with Rhiarn

This morning it was great to see so many students joining Rhiarn in the half court for Active Tribes (Yoga) before school.

Rhiarn is running Active Tribes sessions on Wednesday's and Friday's from when our gates open and it is a wonderful active and healthy way to start the day.

I joined in this morning's session, but must remember to wear some looser fitting pants next time...

Prep - Year 2 Junior Athletics Day

We are excited to announce that the Junior School Athletics Day will be held on Wednesday 16th November from 9.15am-1.25pm at Armstrong Creek School on Oval B (the oval located on the corner of Central Avenue and Batten Road).

Parents, carers, grandparents and younger siblings are invited to attend to cheer on your child/ren and their peers as they participate in six fun events throughout the day. You are most welcome to attend the entire event or for part of the day (please find the event timetable below).

We invite you to pack a picnic blanket, camp chairs and your morning tea so that you can set up and watch the students from the outside of the oval. There will also be a coffee van available on the day if you would like to purchase a beverage! Unfortunately, our canteen will not be open to purchase food from.

Students are to wear their House colours on the day and we encourage you to dress in your child's house colours too!

Our House names and colours are:

Fanning - Red

Fearnley - Green

Nolan - Blue

Hollows - Yellow

* If you are unsure of your child's allocated house, it is listed on Compass on their Profile page (click the "Profile" link under their photo on the home page) eg: Groups : GREEN

Further details / reminders about the day will be communicated closer to the event.

Downball Masterclass

This week, students at ACS learnt how to play Downball!

Our Downball courts located in Central Plaza and Tower Zone have looked rather lonely over the year, but this week our students did a wonderful job of warming them up by working on their Downball skills!

Every recess, SRC reps ran masterclasses so students of all levels could learn and play Downball. It was wonderful to see students teaching one another, practising their skills and making new friends.

Next week, students in learning communities will be able to sign out downballs along with a range of other sports equipment to use during recess and lunch. Check out these photos of students in action during our Downball masterclasses this week!

Basketball District Sports Day

On Thursday the 13th of October we had a small group of Year 6 boys attend AWA Stadium to compete in the basketball district sports day. The day was certainly full of ups & downs so make sure you check out the 'Positive Climate for Learning' page for all of the details, some personal highlights from the students & some photos of the boys in action!
