Inferring Comprehension Strategy

Students continue to focus this week on the key comprehensions strategy of INFERRING. We are reminded that students are required to “read between the lines” to gain information from the text that is not directly stated.

We have once again attached the following PDF which includes further information regarding the comprehension strategy of INFERRING, along with some simple activities you can do at home home to reinforce this concept.

As reading is a fundamental and important homework activity, we have also attached the Home Reading Log again for any families needing to print a new reading log for their child.

Mathematics Overview of Learning

Term 4, Weeks 3-5

Please find attached additional activities to support the learning from the Mathematics homerooms. These activities are a combination of hands-on activities, questions and worksheets to give parents an understanding of key concepts being covered in maths and to allow them to assist with the consolidation of these concepts. It is not expected that parents undertake any explicit teaching of these, although it must be remembered that these concepts are being covered over a period of time. Therefore, some activities will be more relevant as the weeks progress.
