Junior School Report

The Junior Sub School is a constant buzz again with a lot of events happening. Term 4 is a busy time of the year and students have been working hard to get their best results and to complete assessments for reports. Staff have completed progress reports for students and Coordinators are catching up with students who need extra assistance in submitting work prior to final reports.  Coordinators will be in touch with parents if students are not progressing well.

End of Year Activities are being planned for the final week with Year 7 and 8 going to Fun Fields. The events are compulsory and payment will be required by the due date and can be made online through Compass.  Students have received Permission notes already.

Year 8 Camps are still in progress and students are having a wonderful time with their classes at Strathbogie where they are canoeing, having BBQ’s, making pizza dinners, visiting Polly McQuinn Waterfalls, swimming, visiting a farm, going for night walks and seeing the wildlife at night and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

The Year 8 Graduation Dance will be held on Wednesday 20th December from 3.30pm to 5.30 pm at the school. Students will be dismissed at 12.40pm on the day to go home and get prepared for the event then return at 3.30pm. Permission notes have been handed out already. Consent may be given online through Compass.

Pizza and other refreshments will be provided. Cost for drinks is $2 per soft drink or water. Students may bring their own water but no other drinks will be permitted to be brought in. Invitations will be sent out with students later in the term and we are looking forward to seeing them all dressed up.

The Sub School are pleased to announce the achievements of some students.

Janet Huynh 8H has demonstrated great leadership and Citizenship by visiting Primary Schools and talking about her transition into St Albans Secondary College. She has also worked with the community through the Smith Family and lately has been accepted into the St Johns Ambulance Youth Program.  Janet has also taken many photos for the Junior Sub School throughout the year for Swimming and Athletics. Congratulations Janet on your achievements and initiative.

Students in 8B and 8L have also been fundraising for the Homeless and the Women’s shelter by selling baked goods at school and providing food in the city. This has been a fabulous initiative for the girls involved. Congratulations on your Community spirit to Andrea Marzon, Mariane Nguyen, Gaylene Piscopo, Jasmine Mondia, Amelie Cassar, Nicaila Kauric, Trang Nguyen and Marygale Almacen.

If you have concerns about your child’s progress, please contact the relevant Coordinator and if your child is going on vacation prior to the end of the year the coordinator must be informed. Please ensure your child returns to school by the first day in 2018. Please call the coordinators if you have any questions on 9366 2555.
