INTERACT BBQ for Community Projects

Last week, Tony Micallef, Vanessa Duong, Patrick Shaw, Taylah Tran, and Kobe Reid represented our school Interact Club at a Rotary Dinner Evening. They discussed their achievements with highly regarded individuals and groups across Victoria, and, to our great surprise, our Interact Club received an International  Citation award for services to the community.

Two of our members were specifically recognised for their efforts; Kobe receiving the ‘Making an Impact’ Award, and Tony receiving the Presidential Citation Award. Our Interact club is constantly striving to be active in the community, and are currently working on renovating the garden at the St Albans SCOPE facility.

To fundraise for current and future projects, the club hosted a barbecue last Thursday at lunch. It was extremely successful thanks to the efforts of all the members, especially the newly welcomed members: Viet, Cindy, Patrick, Taylah, Awien, Colleen, Cindy and Sonya. Everyone demonstrated their dedication to helping out where possible! They received well-deserved praise from the Interact Club President Vanessa Duong who said, “Considering this was the new members’ first barbecue, their contribution to the barbecue was really well done.” The school saw lots of students lining up for sausages, burgers, Zooper Doopers, and soft drinks! This was definitely a valuable experience and all the members hope to hold another barbecue soon. Students and staff outside the club are highly encouraged to suggest ideas for future fundraisers!
