Senior School Report
Despite VCE and VCAL classes being finished, this is still a very busy time for Senior Students and staff. Year 11 and Year 12 examinations have run smoothly, as has work placement for the VCAL students. We are in the middle of Year 11 into 12 Orientation Program. Students who are doing Year 12 VCE in 2018 will have their first formative assessment at the end of the two week program.
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, our Annual Year 12 Awards Night at Moonee Valley was a prestigious and inspiring event which showed just how talented so many of our students are. The whole school assembly to farewell the Year 12 students was a wonderful celebration of their time at the school. As always, the costumes were entertaining and students’ behaviour was excellent. We are all proud of them.
Year 11 students had their final assembly on Friday 3rd November. It was wonderful to see the VCE VET music class perform. Students received awards for their achievements in their classes and well as awards for 100% Attendance.

A few dates to be aware of for the remaining of 2017 and into 2018.
- VCE Year 11 into Year 12 Orientation: Thursday, 16 November to Wednesday, 29 November 2017
- VCAL Year 11 Work Placement: Wednesday, 8 November to Friday, 17 November 2017
- VCAL Year 11 into Year 12 Orientation: Monday, 20 November to Wednesday, 22 November 2017
- Accreditation Day for all students going into Year 12, 2018 is Thursday, 30 November 2017. It is compulsory that all Year 11 students attend this day. It will be held in the library. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend. Students are required to be at school for only a short period of time and they don’t need to be in school uniform.
There is also the option of doing the Accreditation online through Compass. This will save families time as they won’t need to come to school and wait https://stalbanssc-vic.compass.education/
- Parent Information evening for all Year 12 students for 2018 and their parents/guardians is on Monday, 5 February 2018 starting at 6.30pm
- Study Camp for all Year 12 students: Thursday, 8 February to Friday, 9 February 2018.
The Year 12 Formal for the class of 2017 will be held at the Luxor Function Centre in Taylors Lakes on Wednesday, 22 November. There is great enthusiasm and excitement about this with the students. This event marks the end of their exams and their last meeting together as our Year 12 students for this year.
Many thanks to the parents who contact us when their child is absent for any reason. This is of great assistance to the Year Level Coordinators, as we will call home regularly if there are any unexplained absences for your child. The Case Management process continues to monitor closely the attendance, achievement and individual needs of all our students.
