From the Principal Class

Principal's Report

Congratulations to all members of the College community for a smooth start to the year.

There are many whole school events in Term 1, such as photo day and the swimming carnival, which draw students out of class.  However, wandering around and observing classes I can see that students are really engaged in their learning.

There will be more on the swimming carnival in the Sports news, but there was a fantastic atmosphere and great participation from students – whether in the swimming events, diving, water polo or other events held.  There was something for everyone and I hope that next year, more students come along and get involved.  It truly is a great opportunity for the whole College to get together to build our community and a bit of healthy competition between the Houses!

There was a huge turn out to the Year 7 Instrumental Music Evening.  It is wonderful to see so many students interested in learning to play an instrument or continuing with lessons.  Thank you to our Director of Music, Sarah Williams and the team of instrumental music teachers who enabled students to try out the variety of instruments of offer.

Congratulations to Silas Harris for his Media entry being selected in Top Design

Congratulations to Silas Harris (Class of 2019) for his photographic series in Media on 'Depictions of Emotionalism' that has been selected for the Top Designs Exhibition as part of the VCE Season of Excellence 2020.

A few reminders to parents and students:

The wearing of uniform has been positive and students have come to school displaying some pride in the uniform.  A reminder about the rules around piercings and jewellery, the wearing of black socks and long sleeved tops under summer dresses - these do not fit in within our current uniform guidelines.  The uniform guidelines can be found in the Student Planner or on Compass under School Documentation under the Community tab.

Most students have adapted well to the changes in the Mobile Devices Policy.  I have had many positive comments from staff and (some) students!  Students are interacting well, playing games and genuinely enjoying each other’s company at recess and lunchtime!

For parents wishing to contact the school, please remember that most of our staff have substantial teaching loads.  If you wish to meet with a teacher or Level Leader, the best way to do so is to make an appointment by emailing the staff member via Compass or calling the General Office and the Admin staff can transfer your call to the staff members voicemail.  We welcome parent input and involvement in your student’s education.  However, parents visiting the school need to ensure that when they arrive they sign in at the General Office.

Signature Paver fundraiser

We invite you to purchase a signature paver with your name/family names engraved to be placed as part of the landscaping for our Outdoor Space Project.

The minimum cost for a paver is $30.00, however there are options for families to purchase pavers for $50, $75 or $100.  (The pavers are all the same size)

Your generous donation will support the development of additional outdoor spaces within the exterior perimeter of the College grounds.  This project is planned to include a walking track, exercise stations, seating/tables, shade sails and landscaped garden areas.  These areas will provide not only additional activity areas were students can be busy but also reflection spaces where students can relax and enjoy being with their friends!

Together we can make a difference!

Please note that there is a 48 character maximum for paver engravement.

Please click  signature paver initiative if you wish to have your connection to the College recognized and maintained into perpetuity!
