Like working with wood? Our Carpentry Trade Taster course is taking enrolments for a start in mid-February. This course is a great introduction to the trade. 71% of our carpentry students from 2019 went on to pre-apprenticeships. Contact us today on 9462 6077 or to learn more see

INVITATION TO LOCAL MATHS FESTIVAL IN ELTHAM

We’re a local group who is organising a community maths festival with the support of Nillumbik Shire Council, Bendigo Bank and the Mathematical Association of Victoria.

We would like to invite Viewbank College to participate in the inaugural Meet Pi Maths Festival

  • When:  Saturday 14 March 2020
  • Time:     1.59pm to 4.00pm.
  • Where: Eltham Community & Reception Centre

Meet Pi Maths Festival aims to bring together children from Year 3 to Year 9 to have fun collaborating to solve problems and in the process explore the richness and wonder of mathematics.  The festival will feature puzzles, games and craft based challenges to suit children with a range of abilities and interests, not just those who have already discovered their love for maths.  Our festival is inspired and supported by the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival, who have held over 100 similar events in the U.S. and supported events in 14 countries worldwide.

“Not only will the festival allow many of our youth to get together and solve maths problems, it’s also a fun inclusive environment that anyone - regardless of their love for maths - can be a part of” Karen Egan, Mayor of Nillumbik Shire Council

“We know many students are disengaged with mathematics, especially after starting secondary school. But this does not need to be the case. The festival offers a new non-competitive way for kids to engage and explore mathematics.” Peter Saffin, CEO, The Mathematical Association of Victoria

We are inviting your School to be involved in the following ways:

  1. Promoting the festival to your students via your school newsletter, displaying posters, distributing flyers and school Facebook Page
  2. Nominating a Teacher(s) to join our team of Activity Leaders to guide Participants
  3. Nominating Senior Students to join as Activity Support Leaders to guide Participants

If you would like to be involved, we will also provide your students a 25% discount on the general ticket price when using your exclusive school discount code (issued upon confirmation).

Please contact me on the details below as I’d be happy to discuss in more detail and answer any questions you may have.

Kind regards
