Wellbeing

From the Wellbeing Centre.....

It has been a very busy term for the team in Wellbeing. We had the officially opening of the Wellbeing Centre which was a great event. It was good to hear the feedback from the students about the centre and how valued it has become in the school in a short period of time. We also launched the resilience and wellbeing gamification program “Platforms” for year 8’s. We look forward to rolling out the next phase of the game in term 3 with a lot more support provided to students to help them engage in the program. The program aims to engage students with positive psychology, whilst building resilience and developing social skills in a safe platform through a gaming experience. It is a pilot program which we are excited to be involved in. More information can be found on their website, platformsgame.com.

At this time of year with the colder weather and exams for our senior students, we all look forward to a well-earned break to help us recharge for semester 3. If needing any kind of support during the holidays remember there are some great help services available in the community such as Knox Youth Services (9298800), Headspace (98016088), Eheadspace (online and phone counselling) and Kids Helpline (1300551800).

On Tuesday 5 July there will be two ‘SELF DEFENCE’ workshops being run through Melbourne Dragons Marital Arts provided by Knox Youth Services.

The sessions aim to increase young people’s self-confidence and provide martial arts based self-defence techniques in a supportive and inclusive environment. To register contact Knox Youth Services on 92988000

We have some exciting days planned for Term 3 including celebrating International Youth Day on  12/8/2016, Diversity Week during the middle of the term (which was a huge success last year) and Fresh Faced Friday on 1/9/2016 focusing on being ‘Body and Self Positive’.

From the team in Wellbeing, we hope you have a great break and we look forward to Term 3!
