Y9 Food Technology lifts the lid on Sugar

Over the last few weeks year 9 Food Technology has been investigating the health problems associated with high sugar diets. As part of their program students watched ‘That Sugar Film’ and their follow up task was to create a poster exposing the ‘hidden sugar’ in foods perceived to be healthy.

The results are confronting and the posters around the school tell a surprising story.

Students were asked to use their numeracy skills in reading the nutritional content tables and then weighing out the number of grams of sugar in each product.

The visual message the posters tell is very confronting and drove home the message about processed foods and being aware of what you eat / drink.
