Principal's Report

Thank you all for your support this week. Ms Soutar read many of the lovely comments on the Facebook page and emails that have been sent and was quite overwhelmed by the support shown not only from her colleagues but parents as well.  It’s just another welcome reminder of how great it is to work in our community.

I would like to formally thank:

Adam Salerni and Briony Jenner from Woodlands Primary School as well as Amy Milne and Lisa Dempsey from Langwarrin Park Primary School for their willingness to support us on Tuesday. It was greatly appreciated. We are lucky to have two great schools nearby!

Are your details up to date?

Just a reminder to families to please ensure that your contact and family details including emergency contacts are valid and correct. If your circumstances have changed, please let the office know ASAP as we often find out that numbers or addresses have changed or that emergency contacts are not available to assist in an emergency. If you are unsure, please contact the office to check.

Thank you - Camp

Thanks to the staff and parent volunteers who attended the Year 5 camp and made it another safe and happy time for the students.  It is great to be able to provide these experiences once again – I know for many, they are the best times of our primary school years!

Mobile Phones/Smart Watches

The Department of Education & Training (DET) has undertaken extensive consultation on this matter and recently issued updated advice to all government schools in Victoria to ensure a consistent approach across the state.

At LPS phones are allowed to be brought to school under the following conditions:

  • Under no circumstances are phone cameras (still or video) to be used on school grounds
  • Mobile phones/smart watches are not to be used to contact anyone throughout the day
  • Mobile phones are to be handed in to the class teacher who will store them appropriately until the end of the day

The above also applies to excursions and camps unless otherwise specified.

Shade Sails

Mr Hickey has been successful on behalf of our school by obtaining a shade sail grant.  This shade sail will cover the spider web and sandpit in the junior play area.  This will look great alongside the shade sail Mr B has organised over the staging area. Thanks Mr Hickey and Mr B for getting us some more shade!

Have a great fortnight,

Mark Moorhouse
