Teaching and Learning
Celebration of Learning
Tomorrow evening the Celebration of Learning will take place for the first time in two years. We are very excited to welcome parents back into the school for this important event. The Celebration of Learning is an opportunity for students to reflect and share their learning journey and goals. It also provides an opportunity for parents to better understand what their child is doing in class.
The classrooms will be open between 5:30-7:30pm and families are welcome to come along at any time that suits them within this time period.
The specialist teachers will also have a work display on show.
The canteen will have sausages and drinks available for sale for families who wish to purchase a bite to eat. All money raised will go towards the purchase of a new pizza oven for the canteen.
NAPLAN
Later this week all Year 3 and 5 students will receive their NAPLAN report. NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress.
It certainly doesn’t tell us everything about the students and should be considered as just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to supporting the learning needs within the classroom.
Analysis of the NAPLAN data has begun at the school level and in the coming weeks we will continue to dig deeper into this data to identify and tweak teaching practices to support the learning needs of all students.
If you would like to discuss your child’s NAPLAN report further, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher.

The swimming program will take place for all students in P-6 throughout next term. The dates are set out below and all permission notes and details will be sent out via Compass by the end of this week.
