Namoi Jobs & Trades Show
Report by Careers Adviser, Ms Blewitt
On the 14th September students attended the inaugural Namoi Jobs & Trades Show conceived and delivered by the Narrabri Industrial Network Inc (NIN) in partnership with the Narrabri Shire's Future EDU.
Held at the Crossing Theatre, the Namoi Jobs & Trade Show (NJ&TS) is a platform for positive engagement that encourages local employment that supports the future growth and expansion within our region!
This career pathways initiative is aimed at maximising the connections between companies in the Narrabri Shire and prospective employees, students, and the community. The trade show was a great success and increased awareness around the opportunities that are available locally and exposed students to prospective employers offering traineeships, apprenticeship and jobs.
Our students enjoyed engaging and interacting with the business and organisations represented at the event and agreed that it was a very worthwhile opportunity.
Wee Waa High School would like to thank the event sponsors, SANTOS and also the Narrabri Industrial Network Inc (NIN) and the Narrabri Shire's Future EDU for making this terrific opportunity possible.
School Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships -
Wee Waa High has a proud history of a highly successful School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) program.
More than just part-time jobs, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships are a great way to set yourself up for the career you want while you're completing your HSC.
SBATs are available to all Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students in NSW. They allow students to commence an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship while at school. A school-based apprenticeship or traineeship combines paid work, training and school; and as well as an industry recognised national qualification you will gain credit towards the HSC. Some apprenticeships and traineeships can contribute towards students' ATAR.
