Ag Round-Up

Report by Ms Bray, Agriculture and Primary Industries Teacher

Since my last report the major agricultural event to take place since our very successful showing at the Merino Challenge has been the Wee Waa Show.

Eight of our Agriculture and Primary Industries students represented our Wee Waa High School Show team, they included; Axel Currey, Caitlyn Coutts-Smith, Mackenzie Jones, Cassidy Welsh, Bree Pillar, Eliza Hatton, Ruby Graham and Piper Schwager.

Seven of our students entered the young parading competition, with each of them achieving ribbons for their efforts. Wee Waa High students, Cassidy Welsh and Caitlyn Coutts-Smith received overall Grand Champion Young Parador ribbons in their respective junior and senior categories.

All of our students participated in the young judge’s competition, where students had the opportunity to speak with esteemed judge Kim Williams, regarding their selective choices in placing steers. Students came out of this experience gaining invaluable knowledge of cattle parading and judging.

Stage 4 Technology - Agriculture

This term, down at the farm, stage 4 students have had the opportunity to learn to drive a tractor. This is such a rewarding experience, and students who have never operated a piece of machinery have excelled in this area. Students in the multiple category class have started attending with the stage 4 Tech class, and have relished this opportunity to engage in animal and plant production.

2022 Ag Camp New England - Moree

An exciting opportunity to participate in the five day 2022 Ag Camp New England program that takes place Term 4, Week 3 - Monday 24 October 11am to Friday 28 October 12.30pm

The five-day camp brings students from rural and remote students together to participate in engaging educational activities that introduce them to a range of traditional and emerging careers in Agricultural Industry.

Our Ag Camp partners provide direct industry engagement and share valuable insights from across the broader agricultural industry including food and livestock production, technology, research and Agri business.
