SPOTLIGHT ON YEARS 5 AND 6 

Grade 5

Maths

Recently our students have been immersed in Geometry! Students have been exploring 2D shapes and matching them with their net. They have also been calculating the volume of these 3D shapes by their length, width and depth. We are currently learning about Balanced Equations and solving problems such as 126+?=30x2.

English

We are all knee deep in our Author Studies and are absolutely loving it! 5A are reading books by Morris Gleitzman, 5B are reading books by John Marsden and 5C are reading books written and illustrated by Mark Wilson. Students have been analysing these texts and responding to them by notetaking in their reader’s notebook.

Inquiry

We have recently began our short Health unit on Preparing for Puberty. The students have responded very maturely and have really gained a lot of information to help them with this stage of life. We will soon begin our Science unit on Earth’s Place in Space, which we are very excited for.
