Principal's News

Nigel Rodrigues

Dear Families,

Thank you all for the wonderful 'welcome backs' I received on Monday. Whilst I had an absolutely amazing time away in Italy it is also great to be back home with family and friends.

A very big thank you to Mrs Smith for taking care of things in my absence and of course to all the staff who ensured we had a wonderful, smooth beginning to Term 4.

When looking at the school calendar it is clear much has already taken place with our Year 5/6 camp, cricket clinics, staff & student first aid courses, excursions and prep transitions all already completed in just the first two weeks.

Term 4 is a very important term for our student learning as many of the skills and concepts learnt throughout the year are practised and consolidated each week. Last week Mrs Smith included in the newsletter, links to each year level's Term Overviews for your information. I encourage all parents to read through these so they are able to discuss the learning that will take place throughout the term.

As Term 4 progresses we will also begin planning for 2023 in terms of staffing, class structures, maintenance and many other areas of school development. I will therefore be asking, once again, for all families to let us know as soon as possible if circumstances are changing so that we can accomodate these when making important decisions. Could I ask any families who know they will not be returning in 2023 to let Julie in the office know as it is important that we have this information.

I am looking forward to an exciting term here at Trinity and hope that we can continue to build on the strengths of our community as we work together for each of our wonderful children.

School Closure Day

A reminder that this, Monday 24th October, school will be closed for all students to enable our staff to participate in a Maths Professional Learning Day here at school. The day will be led by Martin Holt who is an Educational Consultant who works with teachers to help them establish a classroom culture of challenge. Our particular focus will be in developing maths content which enables all learners to be appropriately challenged.  Once again I thank all parents for their support in enabling this important learning for our teachers.

Prayer

God of all blessings, source of all life and giver of all grace, I want to thank you for the gift of life, for the love of family and friends. I thank you for the beauty of creation, for this great Earth.Thank you for the joy of music, the taste of my foodand for the unknown that I am yet to discover. Thank you for my school where I can learn and grow in love of youand the love of people. All the good things were created by your own hand and come as a blessing from you. For this, I am grateful. Thank you Lord.

Confirmation

Congratulations to our Senior students who received the sacrament of confirmation on Tuesday evening at St Ignatius Church. Thankyou to our teachers, Mr Anania and Ms Maryanne who, with great support from Ms Antonella, were able to prepare these children for this important occassion. I know this was a very special evening for our families who shared in a beautiful mass led by our Bishop, The Most Reverend Les Tomlinson.

Thanks to all those able to attend.

Congratulations - Maths Awards

A very big congratulations to two of our Year 4 students, Austin and Anthony who attended the Victorian Maths Talent Quest and Financial Literacy In Practice Challenge Award Ceremony today at the IMAX theatre. Both boys received High Distinctions for their Maths Project which was completed as part of the Maths Talent Quest initiative facilitated by Ms Marinelli. Their parents and teachers were extremely proud that both were presented with certificates to acknowledge their tremendous effort.

Prep 2023 Transition Day 2

Yesterday we welcomed many new families along with some who are already part of our school community who will have children commencing Prep in 2023. These transition days are a very important part of ensuring each child has the best start possible in their school journey. Many thanks to all the staff involved in planning these days which I know are very beneficial and appreciated by our new families.

Clubs

Each time I am doing a school tour, showing potential new famlies around the school, I am able to share with them about the amazing clubs program we have here at Trinity. I know from their feedback that this is something they do not hear at all schools they may visit and they are always very impressed by the diversity of activities on offer and of course the willingness of teachers to run these clubs during their breaks. Thank you to all staff who lead or support our clubs program it really is a very valuable and special part of what we are able to offer our children here at Trinity.

Kind Regards

Nigel Rodrigues
