Room 10

Room 10 has been having a ball this term!

Last week we celebrated Diwali. We were so lucky to have the wonderful Mrs Sesetti teach us the significance of Diwali and how to draw beautiful Rangolis. We got creative outside and drew them on the concrete in chalk.

In Technologies, we have been taking our coding skills to the next level by Coding the Spheros! So far we have learnt how to code our Sphero to draw shapes, write our name, navigate around an object and calculate the perimeter of shapes. We love the Spheros!

Check out our moves! Every Wednesday we have been practising hard for Edu Dance. We can’t wait to perform the finished dance for you all in Week 9.

Last Friday we participated in a RAC Around the Roads lesson. The Year 4 students from Room 11 also joined us. We learnt about passenger safety and the importance of always wearing a seatbelt. We even got to take part in some experiments and role-plays!

Last week was Crazy Hair Day! We loved seeing everyone’s crazy hairdos. From wacky colours, cute cupcakes, bright wigs and fairy lights we had it all.

Room 11

Students from Room 11 were very proud to present their movie to their parents who visited us on our open day at the end of Term 3. Congratulations to the artists, writers, animators, voice actors, sound engineers, production assistants, editors and producers of the wonderful, animated movie “The Iron Man”.  Here are some stills from the movie.

We have been investigating capacity, shape and decimals in maths. We have also been using our technology skills to design and make labels for the Bush Tucker garden and for the trees being planted to commemorate the long reign of Queen Elizabeth ll.

Other highlights from Term 4 so far have been harvesting the last of the potato crop, participating creatively in Crazy Hair Day, practising and performing “Squalettino”, (Baby Shark in Italian) and working on our Edu-dance performance.

Our class also celebrated Diwali last week and we were very fortunate to have Mrs Sesseti teach us about the significance of this celebration. She also taught us how to design and draw Rangolis using chalk on concrete. Check out our colourful and creative designs.

Room 12

In Technology, we have continued working on our vegetable garden projects this term. We planted the garden beds according to our groups’ designs and have been diligently watering them each morning. So far they are growing well.

In Maths, we have been revising fractions. We used digital fraction strips on our iPads to discover and model equivalent fractions.

In Writing, Room 12 has been working on persuasive texts. This week, we worked in groups to brainstorm rhetorical questions which helped us write more convincing opening statements.

Room 21

Room 21 has been busy as usual. We decorated the windows on the side of the classroom to enhance our Minecraft themed room.  We are all very happy with the finished effect. In Health we collaborated in small groups and designed board games. We showed these to the rest of the school during our Webex shout out last Monday. Crazy Hair Day was good fun and we enjoyed seeing some fantastic hairstyles.

As part of our STEM, we are learning how to program a Sphero robot. Our skill level is building rapidly as we share our progress with others and build on our expertise. Some of the things we can do include making the Sphero change colour and talk. We showcased our talents to students in Room 22. They enjoyed watching what we could do and learning some programming skills.
