The reception’s new chairs have arrived. The pattern is designed by Rosie Paine a Yilka, Wongutha, Noongar, and Yamatji artist. The design is called Learning at the river. The wavy lines represent the rivers and waterways. The U shapes represent children and adults learning together.

Kindergarten Orientation

It was lovely to meet so many parents/carers at our Kindergarten Orientation today. We look forward to working with you next year in partnership with your child’s education. A special welcome to our new families, particularly to those who have their eldest child starting school for the first time.

Parent National School Opinion Survey

We have reached 149 Parent responses. I urge parents/carers who are yet to complete this survey to do so. The survey closes tomorrow Friday 4th November. (In 2020, the last time the survey was done we had 195 responses).

Class Structure 2023

Thank you to the small number of families who have informed Reception their child will not be returning to Burrendah PS next year.  If you are yet to do this, please contact Reception as soon as possible. We wish these families all the best for their child’s future education.

If your child is returning next year but will not be at school when school commences for students on Wednesday 1st February, please let Reception know in writing via email at Burrendah.PS@education.wa.edu.au or using Connect.

2023 Class Placement

The Class Placement Policy is on our website for you to refer to under the policies tab. If you wish the school to consider factors regarding the class placement of your child for 2023, please use this information when putting your request in writing to the Principal via an email to julie.scaramella@education.wa.edu.au  by Friday 18th November.

2023 Staffing

I would like to farewell some of our Burrendah staff who will not be with us in 2023.

Ms Paik who worked in the junior classes as an education assistant is leaving our school this week.  Ms Ngumbang our head cleaner has moved to the mining industry. We wish Ms Paik and Ms Ngumbang all of the best in their new roles outside of education and thank them for all of their hard work at Burrendah over many years. Ms Walker, our school officer has won a permanent position at another school at a higher level. Congratulations on your success and we know your new school, where you have worked in 2022, is fortunate to have you.

Miss Lim in Room 3 Year 6 is moving to another school from 2023. Congratulations on this permanent placement. Miss Lim has worked tirelessly for our Year 6’s leading numerous projects over the years. Your enthusiasm and dedication to your students and to Burrendah will be greatly missed.

ATAR Exams

With Willetton SHS completing their ATAR exams in rooms close to our Kindergarten entrance, I urge the school community to use this area with minimum noise.  Where possible use the bright red and yellow gates to leave the school grounds after school, as ATAR exams are on until the late afternoon. ATAR exams conclude on November 18th. I also ask parents who use the ECE playground after school to keep the noise of their children to a minimum over the next fortnight.

Year 5 Elections

It is that time again when our Year 5 students start campaigning for election to a student leadership role for 2023. These elections are running over the coming weeks. I wish Year 5 students involved all the best with their campaign. Your posters around the school look great.
