From the College Captains

Final Farewell

In the chaos of exams, driving lessons, first jobs and ‘coming of age’, it’s hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end for Year 12’s and that this is our last report as College Captains.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Ms Lewis, Ms Le, Ms Lobriza, Mr Black and the Principal team for guiding us through this year and helping make our ideas a reality.

We also thank the leading teachers and students who attend fortnightly lunches to share progress and ideas. This communication between students and teachers has helped our community to recover from our years of remote learning and continue to strive.

To all the students who are thinking of applying for leadership positions next year, we encourage you to go for it, as you never know what opportunities it could open.

2022 has been a very eventful year for the College Captains.  We were proud and excited to represent our school, and support Mr Murphy, during the announcement of the $11.2 million allocation of funds by The Hon. James Merlino MP and Jackson Taylor towards upgrading our ECA facilities. Watching our entire school’s reaction and hearing the loud cheers was an incredible moment that we’ll never forget. This exciting project is already in the planning stage and we are all very lucky to have a Principal and College Council who have prioritised the improvement of our facilities.

Each term, we had the opportunity to be a part of the Student Leader Youth Council run by Nick Wakeling MP, where we met with other local high school leaders to discuss local issues in our region and give our perspective on State and National issues. We also visited State Parliament as Mr Wakeling’s guests and learnt about Australian politics and some of the history of the State Parliament building.

Other highlights of this year include participating in all the amazing activities and events co-ordinated by the SRC and Student Leaders.  For many of these events, we owe our thanks to the Year 12 Captains Chloe Jolme, Gemma Van Grondelle, Conrad Leaman, and Jason Henderson. They have been incredible to work with and have done an excellent job ensuring all the events run smoothly, making this year so memorable.

Finally, we would like to congratulate all the Year 12s for their hard work, effort and amazing achievements this year.  We wish you the best of luck for exams.

Good luck to next year’s College Captains, we hope you have as much fun in this role as we have!
