Team Leaders Message

Term 4

With the holidays approaching, our learners and teachers look forward to a well-deserved break after a fantastic Term 4.

We want to offer our collective thanks once again for your support to your children, the staff, and the school over the term. As you know, our team works very hard to ensure that all our children are cared for. They go over and above what is expected of them and provide an excellent environment for our students to learn and grow.

Students learnt to critique, evaluate, and assess in writing reviews. Students spent the term reviewing various events, clips, and recipes and even reviewed their teachers. Students used their skills to create a review of the Movie DC League of Super-Pets, which they watched as a whole section at Hoyts.

Our Maths focus for Term 4 was identifying and improving our maths skills in ‘real-world scenarios and equations. Students developed their knowledge of fractions, chance, and measurement and reviewed other mathematical concepts through various problem-solving activities. Students ran an athletics day, using mathematics skills to measure and document the results, track their records and determine who was the champion of the 9/10 Section.

Our teachers introduced Google classroom and Google drive and created a blended learning classroom for our students to flourish. Students learnt about sharing files, collaborating on shared documents and the importance of online working space.

Our PreCal classes continued their research on natural disasters and the impact of floods and bushfires on people, animals, and places. Students researched the impacts donations have on communities impacted by natural disasters and by donating money to a charity or collecting clothing for a local op shop. Students continued their learning through various meaningful experiences, including exploring local farms and waterways at the Collinwood children’s farm.

Students celebrated the year by attending Port Melbourne beach. The section engaged in beach activities, including sack races, Manikin Carry relays, beach flag sprints and beach volleyball. Students were in high spirits and enjoyed being with friends and staff, sharing a walk to bay street shops to enjoy the views of Port Melbourne and the food from cafes and restaurants.
