Prep

We can’t believe that we’ve made it to the end of the year. It feels like yesterday that we were meeting our 2022 Prep students for the very first time, and just like that, they are ready for Grade 1!

The Prep Team thank you for your endless levels of dedication and support towards your child’s first year of school. We are so grateful to work with such kind and gracious parents.

Here’s a snapshot into what your children have been up to in the classroom over the past few weeks:

English:

We finished up our SMART Spelling program by learning about split digraphs. Students learned about some new writing genres, including procedures, persuasions, and letter writing. Students have been responding to different fiction texts by sharing their thinking about them.

Maths:

In maths, students have been learning about and revising a range of different concepts. They spent some time learning about time and the features of analogue clocks. In the last week, students have been learning to understand the concept of chance/probability. They are now quite confident at using probability language such as impossible, likely, unlikely, and certain.

Integrated Studies:

Students have continued learning about physical and chemical changes in integrated studies. They have participated in and observed many different science experiments, which I am sure you have heard all about!

Special reminders:

  • If your child hasn’t already brought in a book that they treasure for their class to read together, they only have a few days left to do so!
  • Our end of year celebration picnic will be on Wednesday the 14th of December (week 11). On this day, your child may bring a picnic blanket, any toys, or activities they would like to play with at the picnic, and a special treat in their lunchbox for snack
  • The last day of school this term is Monday the 19th of December. There will be a 1.30pm dismissal time
