Remembrance Day

November 2022

Remembrance Day 2022

On the 11th of November we attended the Remembrance Day service at Halliday Park. As part of this service we had the privilege of lowering the flags to half mast.

Joining us were many people from all ages and backgrounds such as Victoria Police, City of Whitehorse Councillors, Rotary Club 9820, Mitcham Primary School, St. James’ Primary School, veterans of the Defence Force, and members of the general public. Representing the College, we conversed with a number of individuals and heard stories of their own service and that of their relatives.

We are both passionately involved in commemoration of military service and remembering those who’ve served. Proudly wearing the medals that tell our families’ stories, we looked upon those who laid wreaths and reflected upon the sacrifices of service personnel. Youth participation is key in remembering, and members of the public were happy to see Mullauna College’s involvement on such an important day.

Blackburn RSL gifted to the college a beautiful rosemary plant which we planted next to the plaque commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Remembrance Day - just outside the front of the school. We hope that it would grow to be a symbol of memory for students to admire and as an ongoing commemoration of veterans.

We are both extremely grateful to have had this opportunity, not only in representing our school, but involving ourselves in something that matters to both of us.

Lest we forget.
