Teaching and Learning

 Term 4

What an exciting year 2022 has been with so many wonderful events and achievements to be celebrated. Students across the school have developed their knowledge and skills through a range of different experiences which has enabled them to become more independent and creative learners.

There have been many highlights throughout the year and we are lucky enough to have a range of opportunities that enable students to connect and interact with their local community and take learning beyond the classroom. Some sections were able to attend camp this year, while other sections have enjoyed extended day trips - all have provided students the chance to push themselves out of their comfort zones and try new things. It has also been fantastic to see students engage socially in fun activities in our local community as part of the end of year celebrations.

This year, we have worked collectively towards the school goals and have seen improved student achievement and engagement as a result of a consistent approach to teaching and learning.  We have successfully developed and commenced implementation of a systematic, structured phonics approach as part of our reading program and have continued with the Tutor Learning Initiative providing reading support for many groups of students. Further funding through the Department of Education has been confirmed for the Tutor Learning Initiative in 2023 which will enable the continuation of this highly effective program. Teachers will use assessments along with their knowledge of students to make recommendations for the program in 2023 and families will be contacted early next year if your child will be part of the program.

I would like to thank the school community for their continued dedication and commitment throughout what has been another challenging yet rewarding year. Have a safe and wonderful holiday break with family and friends.
